On October 16th, Blake Anderson was brutalized at his place of work by Los Angeles Sheriff’s Deputies. The 24-year-old may lose his eye after the attack.
Video footage captured by onlookers depict a grisly scene - two deputies pulled up to where Blake was standing outside the lounge at which he was employed at around 1am, and immediately began beating him. They slammed his body into the lounge’s glass windows, then began banging Anderson’s head on the concrete. At one point, a deputy put a gun to the young man’s head and threatened to pull the trigger, telling Anderson, “I’m going to blow your f***ing brains out.”
The attack has left Blake Anderson, a young Black man, physically damaged and emotionally traumatized. He joins the list of countless young Black men who have experienced brutality at the hands of police and sheriff for no other reason besides their skin color. Anderson’s attorneys plan to file a federal civil rights lawsuit against the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
At Navab Law, APC, we stand up to police officers and sheriff deputies like the ones involved in this gruesome incident. Our law firm recognizes the role that racism, classism, sexism, ableism, and other prejudices play in the practice of police brutality. We acknowledge that Black people and individuals from other vulnerable communities are at higher risk to be beaten and murdered by police officers. In addition to fighting for police accountability, we also strive to combat institutional racism through litigation.
